As usual when there is an engineer involved, there are spy shenanigans.

Nophysicalbody already created 2 great videos with Soldier howtos.

This is my attempt at making a video with some more advice, and some map specifics for Goldrush.

There is some great soldier info in there, but what sets this one apart is that most of the information is Gold Rush specific, so it must have been produced pretty promptly. There is some nice show-off play on top of all that as well.

Plus, it gets bonus points for getting away from the usual hard techno/rock track that goes with these things normally, and rolls out the Blue Danube, Strauss style. I loved that piece ever since watching 2001 years back.

I remember turning up to a midnight screening, but I didn’t realize it was like the 6 hour (or something) epic directors cut till I was in there. The freak-me-out trippy sequence went for like 45 minutes. It was great. Apparently it was based off Audiosurf, and was the worlds first music visualization plugin. Kubrick was ahead of his time. Everyone I went along with slept through the whole cool bit

Anyway, here’s the vid.

OMFGNinja (of Badlands Spy Ownage fame) emailed in with another piece of post-update action. This time he tried out the new improved/nerfed soldier rocket limit after it got bumped down from 32 to 16.

The results were… messy to say the least. 7 minutes, no deaths, and a heap of enemy kills. And the first cap point on the 3rd section of dustbowl ended up safe and sound by the end of it all still.

True Story: Feb 28 is the day VALVe put out the what will be sooner or later infamous Soldier/Demo Nerf. It just so happened I was at work the whole day, and I got the news that my beloved soldier was nerfed, while looking at the TF2 forums on my break. By the time I got home from work it was already past midnight, and all my friends were asleep. So I joined some random pub with a low ping, to assess the damage. Who would have thought that the first game that I had my firepower cut in half, would be the same game that I set a new personal record?? (by 3 points!). Irony perhaps? I felt a little bad for the other team, because it was obvious they weren’t the most organized bunch, but hey, look man, I just home from the office, I needed to blow some people away, is that too much to ask? Props to the medic for helping to keeping me alive.

Overall, I think the nerf helped cut back on the spamming, and made actually connecting with your rockets a whole lot more important. But man, 16 is a bit rough. I’d atleast like to see 4 more rockets in on my person, 20 in total. I with, without the ability to spam the rockets like crazy, it kinda sets appart the skill with the Soldiers, since they will have to make each one count. Or atleast soldiers and demos will have to learn to camp ammo boxes. I could see some Engieers being the ones complaining the most about this in the long run.

These are a nice couple of tutorial videos on the solider by Nophysicalbody. They’re a month or so old. I bookmarked them a while back, and then forgot about them till I was looking through all the half-finished draft posts I had.

A 7 minuite long video about how to play the TF2 soldier. WELL. Written by someone (me) with 70 hours played as soldier (sad?)(yes). Caution: Contains pwnage.

All about rocket jumping, taking advantage of The rocket’s splash damage etc.. Is my first video on the subject- so i missed some stuff out. The typos aren’t actually typos, they were right but wmm left them out -_-

It covers some more stuff, like how to deal with heavies, reloading. stuff like that.

Thanks for all the positive feedback on my last video, I decided to take another swing at it.

I wanted to break away from World of Warcraft, since there’s a lot of media floating around for that game already. I decided to pay tribute to one of my other favourite games, Team Fortress 2.

This time I got a lot of help from my friend and producer, Heavy B, so you’ll definitely hear and see a huge difference in the audio and video. Also, big ups to Soulja Boy on the original. Finally, thanks to WeGame for hosting my videos!

The Heads On Sticks guys have another video showing off some nice soldier rocket trick jumping.

The previous trick jumping videos they did were pretty cool as well.

The guys from Heads On Sticks have put together a couple of videos showing off some of the tactical moves you can do with the Soldier rocket jumps, and Demoman sticky bomb jumps.

This stuff is always cool.
