Luke, who rocks in all kinds of undescribable ways (and did the Team Fortress 2 motivational posters a while back), has gotten us set up with our very own ubercharged.net TF2 game server. I also set him up as an author on here, so if you see any posts not from me, don’t freak out like it’s some kind of ooberservers.com sell out scandal(again). It’s probably just him posting server stuff.
It’s live now, and good to go, but we’re planning a series of official kick off server parties to get it rolling. Why a series? Well, I live in Australia, the server is in New York, and there are a bunch of people that read ubercharged.net all around the world. Pretty much any time is gonna suck for everyone, so why not have a few sessions?
Yes, I will be playing with a 250+ ms ping. If you hate what I do here, and want to see me humiliated come along. I’ll be the engie running into walls on my l337 connection.
It will be a rocking good time.
Server launch party details
Server: ubercharged.net - 69.9.43.108:27016
Password: ubercharged (might make it unpassworded in a little bit)
Location: New York
What to Bring?: Alcohol. Singing voice. Willingness to let madlep win.
To do what?: I dunno. It’s a TF2 server. Shoot people and stuff. You’ll figure it out.
Times
Hell, you can log on whenever and play. But we’ll try to organize a bunch at the following times. Note that there is a 10pm session for each of the time zones. I figured this was prime time, but if anyone really wants a different time, I’m sure we can figure it out.
I’ll be along to the first session, but you guys can occupy yourselves at the other ones.

Initially it’s running CCP CircleJerk (the map rocks, don’t mind the name) as a starter. You can download the map when you connect to the server (slowly…), or you can grab it from the direct link.
Andreas mailed in with a link to this new Solider how-to video put together by shadowie2.
Nophysicalbody already created 2 great videos with Soldier howtos.
This is my attempt at making a video with some more advice, and some map specifics for Goldrush.
There is some great soldier info in there, but what sets this one apart is that most of the information is Gold Rush specific, so it must have been produced pretty promptly. There is some nice show-off play on top of all that as well.
Plus, it gets bonus points for getting away from the usual hard techno/rock track that goes with these things normally, and rolls out the Blue Danube, Strauss style. I loved that piece ever since watching 2001 years back.
I remember turning up to a midnight screening, but I didn’t realize it was like the 6 hour (or something) epic directors cut till I was in there. The freak-me-out trippy sequence went for like 45 minutes. It was great. Apparently it was based off Audiosurf, and was the worlds first music visualization plugin. Kubrick was ahead of his time. Everyone I went along with slept through the whole cool bit
Welcome to the TF2 Strategy Class Guides index. Here you will find links to all the class related strategy guides on tf2strategy.com.
Each comprehensive class guide features a full overview of each class and their weapons, the roles that the class fulfills best, in-depth strategy regarding the various methods of play, a content-rich roll of tips to improve your effectiveness in combat, and an article detailing specific strategies to utilise when engaging each class of enemy.
Each page of every guide is also infused with crops of vibrant TF2 screenshots to more effectively illustrate the issues under analysis, all linking to full size, high resolution versions presented in our very own TF2S Gallery. This is designed not only to more fully express important strategic concepts, but to enhance your reading experience as you wade through the veritable swamp of considered text.
While you’re there, check out the Gallery page as well. Some nice screenshots in there. I snagged a few for my wallpaper collection
Josh from The Serious Nerd, has written up a great tips list for lovers of the point and click adventure known as “playing sniper”.
The coolest part is the illustrations to go along with it
Absolutely essential for all Snipers is the fast weapon change. When turned on, you won’t bring up the list of weapons when you press 1, 2, or 3 trying to switch. This is very important because when you suddenly find yourself being attacked when you’re zoomed in with your Sniper Rifle, you’ll need every second you’ve got to turn around and start sinking bullets or blades into the guy. Pressing the button twice to change weapons is just simply too slow, so make sure you turn on the fast weapon change in the options menu.
Just remember to use this power for good instead of evil.
Daedalus (or EvilDaedalus, or whatever he goes by officially) has been at it again with his prolific tutorializing of the black arts of Team Fortress 2. After showing us how to play Spy, and how to play Pyro, he has pumped out a feature length schooling on being a cocky, obnoxious, little brat playing scout.
Finally here. After a tf2 update rendered all of my footage useless, I had to recap a lot of footage, and ended up with more than I could manage. Anyway, I couldn’t fit everything into 10 minutes, so I had to split it up into two parts.
I’m just glad to get this out into the open so I can get working on other projects and free up disk space. It’s somewhat rushed but I still hope you can learn something from it.
I’ve also started a public steam group centered on my new server:
And yes, I know the quality is horrible. I tried uploading it 3 times with 3 different codecs. Go watch the stage6 version
I was umming and aahing over whether to embed the stage6, or the youtube version. In the end I went with youtube, cause the stage6 one was 300mb, and my ISP plan gets capped real easy. What is everyone’s preference for future reference?
Elvis!, Brent, and D4rkone all emailed me to point this one out before I was slack enough to get around to posting it. Cheers guys
These are a nice couple of tutorial videos on the solider by Nophysicalbody. They’re a month or so old. I bookmarked them a while back, and then forgot about them till I was looking through all the half-finished draft posts I had.
A 7 minuite long video about how to play the TF2 soldier. WELL. Written by someone (me) with 70 hours played as soldier (sad?)(yes). Caution: Contains pwnage.
All about rocket jumping, taking advantage of The rocket’s splash damage etc.. Is my first video on the subject- so i missed some stuff out. The typos aren’t actually typos, they were right but wmm left them out -_-
Anyway! Enjoy this movie (I think it’s good).
“How to play soldier well 2″ is the sequel to “How to play soldier. Well.”
It covers some more stuff, like how to deal with heavies, reloading. stuff like that.

As a side note - sorry to everyone who has emailed and linked content to post in the last week or so. I’ve been incredibly slack, and not posted anything of substance for a while. I’ll get to it soon, I promise!
HeadStrikeR has made a great medic tutorial video showing off surgical techniques for 1st year medical interns new to TF2.
Its got some really nice camera work, and covers all the tips you wish your doctor knew. Some nice game play ownage footage going on in there as well.
After 2 month and 3 complete reworks it’s finally finished!
My movie shows the golden rules of medic gameplay and is for entertainment. Fits for young and old medic compadres. I always wanted to create something nice with Sony Vegas and i think it was worth it. I mixed together only the best clips i have recorded so far. If you watch this video pls write a comment and let me know what you think about it!
If you ask yourself, why medic is awesome gameplay? Because if you really get into the role of the medic, it plays like a field commander. The abilities all in one, medic is just great! nuff said
I spotted it over at Team Fortress 2 Guides - koopa’s new site (he’s an ubercharged regular). Its a great site, go check it out.
Deep Blue emailed with links to a new tutorial video he has made for playing demoman. Some good tips to watch for aspiring demomen. Only thing I’d change is to add more discussion on the finer points of demoman crotch taunting.
Here’s the youtube vid. It’s also up on stage6 for those who like the nicer version.
A little video i put together for those that are new to the game and maybe needs some help on this particular map. Hope it will inspire you to practice this class.
By the way, using the bat isnt the most effective way to go, i just did it in the vid to show you a “funny” way to take down snipers, but its far from the most effective. To increase your chances of getting them i would simply recommend the “scattergun”.
Music by “Porcupine Tree”, The track is called “Orchidia”.
Please comment, they are well appreciated, and tell me if there is anything i could do better, or forgot.
Kojaimea has posted a great video on how to play sniper. I’m a crap sniper (I’m not patient enough to play it properly, and I’m too lazy to find new sniper spots once I get a few kills), so I got a lot out of it.
A guide to some of the small tips and tricks i use whenever i play sniper. Obviously the intricacies of timings to charge up certain damages couldnt be put on the video, it would take forever, but theres a lot here =]
