eXtelevision
Community Fortress has a pretty sweet video series going called eXtelevision (eXtv for short), where eXtine commentates pro-level competitive TF2 matches. If you’re interested in competitive TF2, it’s definitely worth a look for its excellent commentary (plus, the matches are pretty damn intense, if you ask me).
Case in point: an ESEA-Invite match this week. Muscle Milk and Moolians, the underdogs, squared off against Evil Geniuses in a brutal match on Badlands. Part 1 of 4 of the match is embedded below, and you can check out part two, part three, and part four on the CommunityFortress Youtube channel. This is definitely one to watch in HD and fullscreen. And nope, I’m not going to spoil it for you by saying who won
Best part: a new eXtv episode’s released every week. Keep ‘em coming, Community Fortress!

Wow. That’s pretty cool. I didn’t know comp. play was that intense.
I’ve gotta go try out that new PUG site this afternoon.

n00bie there’s some sniper action, some engie action, some BIG pyro moves and even a little bit of spy and heavy if I remember right
So what I’m saying is, has anyone taken this to the steam forums yet?

I’ve never played tournament. Is that HUD that shows all the players common in that or is it a mod? I’d like to have access to something that cool. Where can I get it?

I was hoping to see mention of TF2Lobby here too. I’m sure it’s somewhat well known in these circles, but still.

I laughed when the pyro got 3 kills

@randombaddie You realize I was joking. I’m well aware that more classes are used, I was simply mimicking a straw man of those who criticize competitive play.
Let’s start pugging again.

how valid are the new weapons to competitive play? i saw a couple of direct hits in that video.. but what about the other stuff? the buffbanner seems a bit pointless with such small teams but the gunboats might be beneficial? and the resistance and eyelander?
himmelstoss responded on 25 Jan 2010 at 1:35 pm #
@fell: They are banned from leagues until the end of the season, to ensure consistency. Starting next season, they’ll likely be allowed.
Ant responded on 26 Jan 2010 at 12:00 am #
Hm, that spy and huntsman sniper are debit to team.
Jason responded on 26 Jan 2010 at 2:02 am #
@Azul – the HUD is the spectators HUD in tournament mode. You can enable it in Options -> Multiplayer -> Advanced -> “Use advanced spectator HUD in tournament mode” Though the one you see in the videos has been customised a little bit to make the health numbers easier to see.

Maybe it’s just me, but I think TF2’s art style magic might make more whatchable than other compettve games.
