New IP addresses
Apologies for the slowness! New content will be on the way shortly.
In the meantime, we’ve updated our servers’ IP addresses to make them far more memorable, in case they got accidentally removed from your faves list (though the old IP’s still work). Here’s the low-down on the public UC servers.
To connect to one of the servers, open up the development console in TF2 and type in
connect [ip address]
Alternately, of course, you could just click one of the server banners on the right.
EDIT: I LIED. I LIED. Only mumble.ubercharged.net is working as of 12:56 AM GMT, September 28th. uc1, uc2, and uc3.ubercharged.net are still down.
Ubercharged #1 (Official Cult of the Locomotive) is located in California, USA. The IP address is
uc1.ubercharged.net:27015
The server runs an almost-vanilla configuration, though alltalk is on. The map rotation consists mostly of official Valve maps, with the addition of a few of the better custom maps.
Ubercharged #2 (Esteemed Disciples of the English Muffin) is now located in London, UK, to better serve our European clientele. Its IP address is
uc2.ubercharged.net:27015
This server is slightly modded – expect to see some really funky stuff going on here with your weapons, but only occasionally. The majority of the time, it’s vanilla. Expect to play a pretty even mix of official maps and good custom maps.
Ubercharged #3 (AH MEN Leisure Lounge) is located in Texas, USA; however, it may move to Chicago. The IP address is, who woulda thunk it,
uc3.ubercharged.net:27015
This server, unlike the other ones, is geared toward competition. This server has a rotation composed mostly of competitive league maps (five-CP maps, Turbine, and some 3-CP maps like Gravelpit).
New! Mumble server
Huge thanks to like 45 ninjas for donating a Mumble server to ubercharged! For those who aren’t in the know, Mumble is a voice-chat client (the open-source equivalent of Ventrilo).
To get it working, first head over to the Mumble website and download the client. Once you have it installed, fill out the following server information:
Label: Ubercharged
Address: mumble.ubercharged.net
Port: 64738 [the default port]
Username: [the name you want to connect with, i.e. himmelstoss]
Password: [leave blank]
Don’t forget to set up your microphone with the audio wizard. Also, set Mumble up as a push-to-talk system, to prevent noise. If you want to stay sane, it may be helpful to turn off text-to-speech (Audio menu -> uncheck Text-to-Speech).
Obviously, rules apply. Don’t spam or say things that you wouldn’t say in a social setting. If the admins don’t like you, you’ll be muted, kicked, or banned. That said, if you have a mic, we invite you to try it out.

Mumble server eh…I’ll try

“This server is heavily modded – expect to see some really funky stuff going on here with your weapons”
sorry but no, thanks. :/
Himmelstoss responded on 28 Sep 2009 at 7:02 am #
@bob: Sometimes we do some weird stuff like give the sandman 9000 ammo, but lower the health of the wearer to 1. You might also see some Valve miniguns running around.
The majority of the time, though, it’s normal.
Jackal responded on 28 Sep 2009 at 7:06 am #
@ Himmel
Nothing like sandman death ball!
bob loblaw responded on 28 Sep 2009 at 7:08 am #
I just like to keep it vanilla, that’s all. I might drop by, though, as I like the UC crowd.
Paper Shadow responded on 28 Sep 2009 at 7:16 am #
Wait what? Why haven’t I been informed of these Server 2 weapon altering events? The closest I’ve done is turn sv_cheats on and set the Flamethrower hitbox size to really, really long, but that doesn’t count since it isn’t actually editing the weapons…
:/
Zorgulon responded on 28 Sep 2009 at 7:22 am #
I can’t help but feel the #2 description is horribly misleading.
90% of the time the only thing vaguely non-vanilla is the Item Manager, with the odd admin wearing a funny hat.
In actual fact, it’s more serious than #1 usually is.
himmelstoss responded on 28 Sep 2009 at 7:37 am #
@Zorg, Paper:
Fixed the description.
The Scoot responded on 28 Sep 2009 at 7:53 am #
Yeah, server two is a bit odd.
If you see Scoot running around with VALVe weapons, be sure to tell one of the many admins he’s a hacker and should be banned.
But, yes. I might’ve been messing around the previous night, and not reset it, so if anything’s odd, contact Tesla Tank. He can do anything I can.
‘Ave some more commas, if you would.
The Scoot responded on 28 Sep 2009 at 7:55 am #
But wait, most of the time it’s vanilla, or vanilla with few additions.
Yay Doubleposts!
madlep responded on 28 Sep 2009 at 8:10 am #
And… they will have domain names as well so you don’t have to remember IP addresses – as soon as I get some broken stuff with the host fixed.
Garret responded on 28 Sep 2009 at 8:11 am #
Those are hostnames, not IP addresses. IP addresses are numeric (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IP_address) and you wouldn’t have much luck getting memorable ones.
Dicey responded on 28 Sep 2009 at 8:29 am #
Oh! What a good find this was! A European server. I’ma go there and be a bother immediately!
Himmelstoss responded on 28 Sep 2009 at 8:32 am #
@Garret: Well, if you’re going to be THAT picky…
Server IP is pretty much the general term for the address that you connect to.
madlep responded on 28 Sep 2009 at 9:51 am #
Probably want to revert back to using IP addresses in the post.
The *.ubercharged.net subdomains I set up still aren’t resolving yet. Still looking at the set up :/
madlep responded on 28 Sep 2009 at 10:03 am #
mumble.ubercharged.net is working. uc1 etc are still messed up, but I think I see what I’ve done wrong.
I hate DNS zone files…
The worst part is that it takes a day or two for changes to propagate once you realise you stuffed something up.
GoldCrusader responded on 28 Sep 2009 at 10:30 am #
Shouldn’t you mention that UC3 gets passworded if a PuG is in progress? Or did I read a forum post wrong?
chipbuster responded on 28 Sep 2009 at 10:34 am #
I’ve been trying to connect lately and I’ve been getting 4 different errors:
-Connection timed out
-Remote host closed the connection
-Mumble failed to retrieve version information from the SourceForge server.
-Disconnected from server (as soon as I hit connect, it displays that)
anybody know what’s going on? I’ve already asked like45ninjas and he has *no* idea
himmelstoss responded on 28 Sep 2009 at 11:01 am #
Updated with the new statuses.

Not only in australia, need a ubercharged server here in Brazil too!
Corodan responded on 01 Oct 2009 at 11:37 pm #
Awesome! Was wondering why they keep disappearing from my favorites list…
Also, last time I tried using Mumble, our server was down.
vic responded on 02 Oct 2009 at 2:38 pm #
@the DNS admin (madlep ?) : none of the addresses resolve. The DNS response is weird, it looks like you used a CNAME record instead of an A record.
Mr Grimm responded on 04 Oct 2009 at 2:17 pm #
Needs a server in every country tbh

Are you guys planning on giving Mumble 1.2 a test run? I’m trying to get the word out a bit, because I think 1.2 is great (I literally haven’t run the 1.1.8 client in almost a month) and the majority of Mumble’s failings in the past have been addressed in 1.2.
It officially went “alpha quality” yesterday, see the PR on slashdot: http://bit.ly/cQIuf
