Friendly Fire podcast – like CP but with more competitive talk, and fewer class questions
If you’re after a slightly more serious and competitive focused TF2 podcast, check out Friendly Fire.
It’s produced Mint Condition, Sigma, and Highstepper, who are refugees from the Control Point community. FF is meant to complement the CP podcast, seeing as CP has jumped the shark is less serious, while Friendly Fire focuses on competitive 6v6 play, tactics, and serious business.
It’s part of RandomChatter. RC is home to a bunch of other great podcasts – check out TechChatter for some great rampant Apple fanboyism (which I fully endorse, and you should too, or Steve Jobs will come and kick you in the face. Which would be painful and embarrassing. Especially given his current state)
Not sure why we haven’t gotten around to mentioning this one yet. I’ve been listening to it since it started up. I’m just lazy.

Good find.
I just wish I had the time to listen to these podcasts :3
But it’s good to know that the TF2 competitive community is starting to get more noticed.

If they’re from CP, could they please get BoomRocker to pimp them with a new logo? These guys deserve something awesome-er and something that conveys a serious, competitive tone.
Anyway, I’ll add this, but I haven’t gotten around to listening to any new podcasts in over a week. It will take me a while to get to it.

Metal_Link: The CP forums might be a better place to ask that…
Also, Boom’s been a bit busy for the past of weeks…

I love DWP and all their podcasts. I just finished listening to FF’s newest episode today, it’s neat you mentioned it.

Might take a whack, although I never listened to CP. Gotta start using my phone again.

Sounds good to me, but I’ve yet to even listen to Control Point or any TF2 podcast for that matter.

Bravo.
Stopped listening to CP a long time ago, but these were some of the best players in the community. They’re legit, and nice guys too.
I look forward to giving it a listen.

Glowing review, thanks for the mention!
Yeah, I bugged Boom about coming up with something. The current logo is little more than 5 minutes of me poking around in photoshop.
Apple fanboyism on TechChatter? Not that much… well, some… =) We cover all of Tech, it’s just that Apple seems to generate the most buzz some times.
We’ve been trying to talk about Microsoft, but there just isn’t that much other than Windows 7 is still coming soon! Woo. =) Listen this week for complaints about the iPhone 3GS and OS 3.0 launch as well as more rage about AT&T!

Apple fanboyism is all good.
(says me typing on my Apple keyboard, hooked up to my Macbook Pro, using Safari while plugging my iphone in to sync the itunes purchases I haven’t put on there yet
)

I used to have no end of days where I would fail repeatedly at the game. I can honestly say that these guys’ tips have really helped me! This podcast is TEH AWEs0mE!!
HelisPoe responded on 23 Jun 2009 at 11:57 am #
I’ll give them one chance. Because I left the CP community after it jumped the shark. (Yes, it did) I stopped listening all together, save for their other podcasts.
Eh, competitive play isn’t my shtick. But I guess I can’t bash them altogether. I’ve played Starcraft competitively so I know the allure of playing to decimate the other team.
I wouldn’t say these are the nicest guys(insert italics) from my experience with them on the forums and so on. But they are very serious and to the point. But only to the extent that a game like TF2 allows. They’re less high strung than other competitive teams on other games like COD4, Halo 3, SC, etc.
Listening as I type. And so far, I like it.
Shoot the shark, don’t jump it FF.
Nailhead responded on 25 Jun 2009 at 9:08 am #
You speak as if jumping the shark is a BAD thing. Okay well, I guess it is.
But yeah, FF is an awesome podcast indeed.
madlep responded on 25 Jun 2009 at 9:48 am #
@NailHead – nah, everything CP and the associated leaping over of carcharodon carcharias that goes with it is all good.
Don’t change a thing
Le Spy responded on 16 Nov 2009 at 7:21 am #
I watched the newest episode, and let me just say that they have no right to diss control point. That Brian dude, besides laughing at everything was also talking about his freaking vacation for half the show… CP sucks now, but is ten fold better then this wannabe “competitive talk” podcast.
Fuffles responded on 22 Feb 2010 at 7:35 pm #
@Le Spy
You didn’t really give them a chance honestly, that was a throw away episode as most of the time they don’t have much to talk about.
