The Ghost of Hoodoo
One day on Hoodoo, a blue Heavy was enjoying his sandvich in the shade. A red spy saw him and when the Heavy put his sandvich down the spy poisoned it. The Heavy took a bite and it killed him. He became the ghost of Hoodoo. Pushing the cart for the blue team to get revenge on the spy who killed him.
As we are all aware, this is a very game-breaking issue. But Valve doesn’t have many other options but to delete Hoodoo as a map. The only other option is to call…
Phoenix’s 2 Cents: I’ve actually had this happen when I was defending (a long time ago, before it was made a community map). It’s certainly irritating to see the enemy team cap without needing to do anything, especially during setup, but there’s actually a bigger problem here; this is potentially server-crashing bug, similar to what happens when you noclip out of your spawn during setup and cap the points (works well on Dustbowl, we’ve also done it on Well). What happens is, the next time setup ends, the gates refuse to open. Forever. Changing the map is your only option. I have a feeling that, since this bug is essentially doing the same thing, it might cause the same error.

We had this problem, sometimes, since the early versions of hoodoo.
Polterjunge responded on 17 Jun 2009 at 8:21 am #
That happened once on plr_pipeline. It was on the last stage and the red team was pushing the cart but then got blown up by stickies. The cart however kept moving and exploded. BUT the game wasn’t finished: everyone respawned and blue was able to push their cart while the red guys exploded as they approached their cart. Finally, blu won. It was hilarious!

Certainatly seems like a seriously bad bug and I hope someone fixes it soon (even though I have no idea how one would do that)
As for the Ghostbusters video, could this be a hint for a new Mod coming soon? (I wish!)

The fact the Pyro has visible eyes of some sort in that first video really freaks me out.
*shudders*

It’s not a ghost, BLU finally realized that if they put a motor on the cart they might win faster
HelisPoe responded on 17 Jun 2009 at 10:02 am #
That’s hilarious. I bet valve will see this and keep it in. Just because it’s so funny.
But then it would get tiresome.
Awww……

Hey, I’m in this video! I’m the Medic with the british accent and 10 dominations.
This happened to me once before on pl_waste as well. I was on red team and the cart suddenly started rolling towards our drop point by itself, but this was at the end of the round rather than the start.

That was a fantastic video. The reactions were priceless. What an unfortunate game-breaking glitch; I have faith Valve will resolve the issue.
Sum1 responded on 17 Jun 2009 at 12:24 pm #
This happened to me the last time I played Hoodoo. Fortunately, I was BLU and it was the last round, so it wasn’t too bad. I’ve been trying to avoid it since until they fix this.
Secret Agent Clank! responded on 17 Jun 2009 at 12:33 pm #
And change the map design while you’re at it. I love defense, but not when it’s this easy. =/

Youme, the creator of hoodoo was having a discussion on tf2maps.net on what would need changing of hoodoo’s layout. Is this map related or is it a universal bug on all payload maps?

It reminds me of the heavy update, when for some reason you could see the dispenser on top of the cart.

Wonder when the cart will start going backwards. Right to the Big Bang. Then what?
The Black Watch responded on 17 Jun 2009 at 9:29 pm #
I’ve actually seen the same glitch happen on Goldrush a long while back. It stopped though as soon as a person on BLU started pushing the cart again.
Kosmit responded on 17 Jun 2009 at 11:15 pm #
@The Black Watch
It happened to me on Gold Rush too. I was on red and not very amused, because it happened on the very first stage. Blu didn’t have to do anything and there was no way to stop the cart :/

This website is getting more and more boring. I mean with the patterns:

And then repeat.

It’s a universal bug. Absolutely not related to Hoodoo.

That isn’t the reason why Hoodoo should be removed from the official rota. The reason why Hoodoo should be removed from the official rota is because it’s shit.

alternate ending, although I don’t approve of fan fics being posted as stories on the front page and I think most of the in-game footage recorded on the community server should be reserved for the forums, ÜberCharged has had rants on the front page since back in the old days when madlep was the only person posting content on the site.
Lawnay responded on 18 Jun 2009 at 7:32 am #
Personally, with this I think Valve should just drop whatever they have with the lastest class pack, and do a major bug fix. I have actually switched to playing a console version of TF2, because it has a damn sight less bugs than this broken excuse for a game that’s on the PC.
BUT NEW CONTENT IZ TOO IMPORTANT GUISE!
Sarda responded on 18 Jun 2009 at 9:20 am #
Lawnay: At least our bugs aren’t ALL game-breaking. Only the hilarious ones are.
n00bie51 responded on 18 Jun 2009 at 10:36 am #
Are you kidding me, Lawnay? As much as there are issues raised by glitches to be resolved in the PC version of TF2, as there are in every game, the Xbox 360 version is even worse. Hello, sky walking? Needle jumping? Significant damage reduction and excessive amounts of ammunition for the Demo Man and the Soldier?
madlep responded on 18 Jun 2009 at 11:07 pm #
If Valve didn’t want us doing this, why did they put it in the game?
alternate ending responded on 19 Jun 2009 at 5:05 am #
The fact that they are rants is not as annoying as how unoriginal/boring they are. Of course, the new article right after this one is making me eat my words.

Yeah, I know, but put any half decent 12 player team up there with 2 or 3 sentries and I assure you BLU is not getting past.
