Next to Godliness
Server regular (and beastly good soldier) Like Bear` recently pointed these videos out to me. Both of them are frag videos, featuring some of the most ridiculous skills you will ever see. This is blasphemy! This is madness!
Madness? THIS-IS-
ROCKET SCIENCE!
I dare not embed this 236MB monster here, but this is a must-watch. This shows the pro soldier yaug` (currently on the CEVO-P team Sway Gaming) absolutely destroying some of the biggest names in professional TF2. The skill level here is way over 9000. Rocket Science »
The Experiment
This one is a compilation of footage from several players, but it primarily features dummy (currently on the CEVO-P team Complexity) owning it up as Demoman. (Some of this footage is fairly old, just like the previous video, so you may notice him having an abnormally large number of reserve grenades).
The Experiment ~ By Dummy »
…and you thought you were good.

Frag videos make me both amazed and disappointed in my own skill… :S
Haven’t seen them yet due to large sizes, but if they are good enough for you to just post them, I think they contain ownage…
Coming Second responded on 24 Mar 2009 at 10:35 am #
I really wish people wouldn’t soundtrack metal/hardcore to TF2 frag videos. It looks completely incongruous to all the cartoony violence.
Anonymous responded on 24 Mar 2009 at 10:40 am #
That demo frag video was amazing!
I wish I had the time to be able to be this good.
Ouch responded on 24 Mar 2009 at 10:45 am #
Man, i could not get enough of that grenade launcher accuracy… it must be somewhat predictable…
The soldier juggles are not as hard as the demo ones… but this was made when the game didn’t even get the gold rush update!
OP responded on 24 Mar 2009 at 10:47 am #
This guy probably grew up with rocket launcher banshee kills in Halo CE.
Headwoünd responded on 24 Mar 2009 at 11:00 am #
Good god I SUCK.
And I agree on the music, it doesn’t fit whatsoever.
Metal_Link responded on 24 Mar 2009 at 11:01 am #
@Coming Second: They’re pros at gaming, not movie making. But I agree that more people need to at least give it more thought. Like in the case of “Mass A.I.”, it’s still one of my favorite TF2 videos.
Neat vids; rather interesting. In fact, it slightly motivates me to learn to do those tricks with my Soldier. But only slightly.
n00bie51 responded on 24 Mar 2009 at 11:05 am #
OP, I did. Ghosts and Warthogs, too.
The editing is certainly lackluster, but the gameplay is impressive.
Ravelle responded on 24 Mar 2009 at 11:18 am #
Very empressive demo work but like you guys said , the music made my head hurt and ruined the video for me, makes it less epic.
HelisPoe responded on 24 Mar 2009 at 11:40 am #
Some of us don’t have the time to invest this must time into a game.
Still, they kick some ass. I really don’t want to meet these guys on a server.

Flying hat, Newman would win. Comp. blast ftw
lol responded on 24 Mar 2009 at 12:55 pm #
THAT would be epic.
But then again, what terms would the duel be set on?
sheepshifter responded on 24 Mar 2009 at 1:23 pm #
Thanks Himmel, I always enjoy a good frag video.
Himmelstoss responded on 24 Mar 2009 at 1:52 pm #
@GoldCrusader:
You couldn’t be more wrong. There’s a reason no one plays pyro at the professional TF2 level: because it’s ridiculously easy to kill a pyro-even an airblasting one. Newman would go down in less than 10 seconds, if even that.
Alex_Wan responded on 24 Mar 2009 at 2:50 pm #

ABSOLUTELY HORRENDOUS MUSIC

You know,i don’t see the point in downloading 236Mb video from before the Goldrush update only because it depicts “ZOMGWTFBBQ ub3r-1337 sk!llz & pro pwnage!!!!!!111!1!one!!!eleven!!”. Problem is,i don’t think TF2 was designed for showing off “ZOMGWTFBBQ etc.”,it was designed for having fun. And yes – i think public servers (not completely random ones, but pubs anyway) is more fitted for having fun than “6-vs-6, no-crits, no-unlocks, class-limit-on-everything-other-than-Soldiers-and-Snipers, ub3r-1337-pro-granary”.
And since this video contains stupid hardcore-death-metal soundtrack, i won’t download it anyway.
How about using,i dunno,Elvis’ greatest hits,or maybe,some jazz,as a soundtrack for TF2 vids?
AlphaChannel responded on 24 Mar 2009 at 5:55 pm #
I can’t help but notice that some classes are completely absent from all these “professional” frag videos. Notably the ones that don’t have general analogs in other FPSes, i.e., pyro, heavy, engineer, and spy. These leagues seem to only be interested in “old-fashioned” FPS smackdown matches, using the game du jour (TF2) as the backdrop. I did not see a single sentry gun in that whole video.
I respect their skill, but I want to play the full game of TF2, not just the parts of TF2 that are exactly like other games.
Slipstream responded on 24 Mar 2009 at 6:27 pm #
So since everyone is going off course and whining about musical tastes, the Pyro class and how frag videos are made by Satan, let us redirect back to the point.
They’re both very, VERY skilled players. A bigger question is who is better; him or Reptile?

SirMax responded on 24 Mar 2009 at 10:53 pm #
in all seriousness though I really have much less respected for the second one that the first. The second pulls that “lucky shot” bullshit that frag videos love where they show off their amazing aim and the opponent happens to be hurt enough to get OHKO’d. The first one it’s taking him 2-4 rockets to kill people or up to six shotgun shells. I can respect someone who ruins the enemy while his guns are doing reasonable damage.

I hate those “frag movies”.
This is absolutely useless. I prefer seeing people of an average level, but a full life instead of those 3-second “nice shots” edited together.
From this, you don’t learn nothing. Hey, they don’t even show when they die, so they actually seem unkillable.
If I recorded all what I did, I could have a 30 minutes “frag vid” with WONDERFUL kills, even though I’m pretty bad with all classes.
Anonymous responded on 25 Mar 2009 at 8:00 am #
Reptile. Fragga. Look it up.
P4TCH responded on 25 Mar 2009 at 8:39 am #
I read somewhere, in between the comments, that the pyro is an useless class. Can’t agree with that, it just depends on the situation. Dustbowl is a pretty good map for the pyros i’d say…
Zorgulon responded on 25 Mar 2009 at 10:20 am #
@P4TCH
The point was that Pyros are generally useless in competitive play, as the teams are small, wise to Pyro’s tricks, and so skilled with the rockets/grenades to juggle them and blow them to pieces before they get to flamethrower range.
GoldCrusader responded on 25 Mar 2009 at 11:03 am #
@Himmelstoss:
I’d imagine there would be faults with Newman winning against Xen-yang or whatever his name was in this video, (i.e. bullets) but I think Newman could pull some strategy from the depths of hell (perhaps staying out of shotgun range, blasting shots from the flare in hopes for a miracle.) but I think Newman could pull a win.
n00bie51 responded on 25 Mar 2009 at 12:03 pm #
GoldCrusader, I doubt it.
Montages can appropriately show off one’s skill, but if it’s something like a bunch of single or two kill clips stringed together, it’s not impressive (see majority of Spy and Sniper videos). I can tell these players have significant skill, however.

Chucrute responded on 25 Mar 2009 at 4:25 pm #
Excluding the air-shots, theres nothing amazing in the first video.
Just a soldier with a medic healing his arse 24/7, and some crappy music.
One of the main issues of the soldier is the administration of health, since you can rocket jump but retreating for HP is always a problem due to the slow movement speed. With a medic sticking his fucking medigun right up that guy anus, im not amazed how well he play.
GanGGoRiLLa responded on 26 Mar 2009 at 12:25 am #
Killing scouts with direct hits in air definately shows mad skillz. Especially when they are jumping around like that.
n00bie51 responded on 26 Mar 2009 at 5:54 am #
Chucrute, this is competitive play. Usually you’re supposed to have a Medic up your ass.
SirMax responded on 26 Mar 2009 at 10:05 am #
@Chucrute: How unnecessarily profane.
HelisPoe responded on 26 Mar 2009 at 11:49 am #
@SirMax: How unnecessarily easily offended. You play TF2 for goodness sakes.
n00bie51 responded on 26 Mar 2009 at 11:53 am #
HelisPoe, TF2’s online community is Hello Kitty Island Adventure compared to the unique individuals I’ve met playing Halo 2 and Gears of War on Xbox Live.
Rigel responded on 26 Mar 2009 at 1:49 pm #
I’ve played with and against a pro demo player on a pub server i frequent. Trust me, they do NOT need a medic to kick ass. And yes, he made half the server rage quit after he dominated half the bloody team.
@Chucrute: Unfortunately, you’re correct. But the thing is, medics DIE pretty easily to skilled players and soldiers are the best class at protecting them, be it some pro match or a public server. He has to have a medic healing him all the time since he’s the one pushing forward constantly.
n00bie51 responded on 26 Mar 2009 at 10:19 pm #
No, they do not need a Medic to rack up tons of points on a PUB, but competitive matches are a different story. The gameplay shouldn’t be considered significantly less impressive because he has a Medic on his back.
Combat Beard responded on 26 Mar 2009 at 11:37 pm #
If you notice throughout the video, he kills a guy named “Reptile” from Pandemic once I believe when Reptile is a Sniper and then once again towards the end of the video when he kills a soldier by the same name. If this is the SAME Reptile, then it seems that Yaug` has bested Reptile at his own class.
Rigel responded on 27 Mar 2009 at 1:02 am #
So, whats your point?
I’m pretty sure Reptile kicked his ass a dozen times and vice versa… There are plenty of good competitive soldiers out there, the only difference is, they’re not so publicly exposed.

Yyyyeah… Oh man, guess I need more practice.
I must say I agree with Zanpa — I’d rather take a look at videos from people of an average level that show the protagonists being, y’now, killed and stuff. As it happens ingame.
Although I tend to think that they edit the deaths because some of those frag videos are uploaded to YouTube, and there are time restrictions. But still, I think I prefer realism. It makes me feel less depressed and not so noobish!
