How To Deal With The Scout Update
Spenny posted this one in the forums. The thought had occurred to me that this would be a sensible thing to do, and I’m glad someone captured it on action.
It’s of how Namakan5157 dealt with the mother of all scout rushes in the first few moments of the scout update being released.
The Problem
Lots of pesky scouts running around.
The Solution?
Use gun. And if that don’t work, use more gun.

Dustbowl was one round, and boy o boy, did they flock or what? Went nightmare classes for Scouts when I was playing last night. Just ask the guys. XD

I just burn them. Scored 51 kills on egypt stage 2 cap1 while defending this morning. I never did so well with pyro

Love how each level sentry gets their own kill icon. Now it’s even easier to tell whether to get a scout or heavy up there.

The sentry is good, but it can only attack one target at a time. Now a flamethrower, that can take down the pack animals with efficiency AND style!

I don’t even know if I’m going to be playing as Scout as much as I might be playing Heavy or Engineer (even though it’s my favorite class and I wish to unlock content for the Scout).

Somewhat unrelated, but does anyone know a good (free) recording program? Only one I know of is FRAPS, and that’s pretty limited in the free version.

I wish I wasn’t out of town. I was looking forward to painting the walls red with my sentry gun. I don’t like playing engineer much… but for this much carnage I would be willing to make an exception.

Yestyerday I went on rampage with a nicely placed sentry defending egypt (stage 2, cp 1), and a nice heavy firing natasha it’s nice too to use against scouts.
Anyway, I went with some friends to an empty server so we can play together without too much scout annoyance.

Okay, I seriously am surprised he was booted for that. Was this an achievement server? The other guys could have switched to classes better suited to antisentry duties (spy, soldier, demoman, etc).
Oh yeah, and I once played pyro around the pyro update and I believe I used the air blast to reverse all four level 3 rockets from a sentry back at it, blowing it up. Can that really happen, or was I dreaming? Every time I try it now, I tend to get shot too much to reverse the rockets, or I time it wrong.
Also, http://taksi.sourceforge.net/ is an alternative to FRAPS, but it doesn’t seem as good. There’s also VirtualDub’s raw capture (uses fewer resources, encoding video takes a lot out of the CPU), but make sure you have plenty of disk space as a few minutes of video can take up gigabytes before you compress it.

You guys are lucky. You think it’s bad having to deal with scout rushes? What about being a guy with engie as his mpc, unable to log in and set some records because of some stupid bet? Yeah, I’d give something valuable to be in your position.

Instead of dealing with the scout rush/farm thing, we over at Control Point had a nice game going on. True, there were still excessive amounts of scouts, but there was also *strategy* going on. And by strategy, I mean complete chaos in the form of domination in the form of engineers building guns defended by scouts and a sniper.
Pyro was sooooo much fun…
Although I did give in and have it track my progress on that double jump achievement. Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding!

@Secret Agent Clank!: I’ll answer for him, because its my fault. I made a small wager with him. We give up our vices for a week, and…well, stuff.
I decided that since he was kind enough to make it so my week didn’t start intill my vice is back in production, that he could start when I did. So now his sadness is null and void.
