A Place You Wish You’d Never Been
Life.
You either live it to the full, or work so you can live it to the full.
It’s the philosophy that a lot of us live by, and it works. The only problem with this is that when we do live life to the full, it’s often very hard to return to reality again. Inevitable comparisions are drawn between the best and the normal, and it often becomes clear that the best can logically turn into a place you wish you’d never been, simply because returning to everyday life can be such an incredibly uncomfortable jolt.
But is that jolt worth the experiences that life brings?
Oh yes.

I enjoyed it. I never noticed how beautiful the visuals for the crocket reflection were. I especially liked the Sentry Guns lined up against each other.
My main complaint is the black bars in the video. Come on dude, you gotta avoid that.

Yeah, there’s some weirdness going on with the site hosting it, and it’s embed code.
I had to do some messing around with it to make it even work.

So I noticed that there was a spike on the server before this was posted.
Then it was posted, and the population went way down.

Normally when people start fooling around on servers, it’s just a temporary diversion quickly dropped when more players join the game. It’s also typically a disorganized mess. But what we had that night was inspired madness. Kudos to General Balls for perfectly capturing and presenting the spirit of those epic hours for posterity.
I started up a steam group hoping to get the guys who participated in the making of “A Place You Wish You’d Never Been”, and any new people who’d be interested, together to make more videos.

Once upon a time there was videogames in wich people who play’em had fun. There wasn’t epic, there wasn’t HD graphics/resolutions, just fun, laughs and “20 minutes breaks” wich became “oh, shit, I’ve been playing for 3 hours” and when you finally quit, you think “that WAS nice”.
That video reminded me those times. I have to hang more often over you server, wanna go on a taunt war, lol

Neuromante, that describes the day of that fooling about perfectly. When I went back over the demos I had recorded, I found we’d spent over 4 hours on Fastlane non-stop (where most of the tomfoolery in the vid was). I’d swear we didn’t stay there that long, but I guess Pyro Tennis makes the time fly faster than I thought.
Also, ironically, the best time I had on the server (ie then) was when there was generally only 7-8 people on it average. It just allowed us to organise everything perfectly, and made it all the more fun.

You can download it from the link below it. Filefront has a very low quality stream at the download link, which has the audio out of time, so I’d suggest (read: want) you just download the thing.

I enjoyed the vid, but I haven’t gotten much chance to play tf2 lately. Personally the most annoying this was when I could see that General Balls was talking, but couldn’t hear what he was saying…
