How To Play Medic Tutorial Video
HeadStrikeR has made a great medic tutorial video showing off surgical techniques for 1st year medical interns new to TF2.
Its got some really nice camera work, and covers all the tips you wish your doctor knew. Some nice game play ownage footage going on in there as well.
After 2 month and 3 complete reworks it’s finally finished!
My movie shows the golden rules of medic gameplay and is for entertainment. Fits for young and old medic compadres. I always wanted to create something nice with Sony Vegas and i think it was worth it. I mixed together only the best clips i have recorded so far. If you watch this video pls write a comment and let me know what you think about it!
If you ask yourself, why medic is awesome gameplay? Because if you really get into the role of the medic, it plays like a field commander. The abilities all in one, medic is just great! nuff said

I spotted it over at Team Fortress 2 Guides - koopa’s new site (he’s an ubercharged regular). Its a great site, go check it out.

Worst tutorial video so far. None of the text stays up long enough and half of it is flashing, interspersed with a ton of gameplay footage which has nothing accompanying it.
Then to top it all he breaks his own rules, Staying alive and retreating from danger and then near the end says no risk no fun?
We medics deserve better than this!

text is goes by too fast

I personally like this tutorial ^^
Yeah, the text disappears really fast, but why don’t you press pause?
madlep responded on 05 Jan 2008 at 9:14 am #
Yeah, gotta agree about the text. On some sections there is too much, and it isn’t up long enough.
Other than that though, I think its a pretty well put together video.

Nice tut. I play medic the most and all the tips you gave were very accurate and will help out new players.

The text is a tad fast. But the footage and editing is great. Some decent tips too. I liked how it highlighted how important “uber-switching” can be.

Nifty tutorial, editing and general camera use is pretty good (I particularly like the top-view sections) and your own skills as a Medic are cool to behold and draw tips from. I’ll definitely need to practice switching-off with uber targets. Text in this video -is- fast, as others pointed out, but it wasn’t anything pausing couldn’t fix.
Although not related to the TF2 content, I’m curious about the music credits.

@Beeees! - The author put the credits on the original YouTube page:
Soundtrack:
1.:Kotoko - Face to Fact
2.:Pendulum - Hold your color
3.:Jody Wisternoff - Nostalgia
(Jody Wisterhoff Remix)
4.:F-Zero X - grand prix ending

Also, bonus points for recording much of it on my favorite custom map.

He also left out an important thing — when you uber someone to take out a sentry, especially a pyro, you need to step out in front and take the brunt of the sentry blast. This is so that the gun doesn’t push back the person trying to take the sentry out. As the medic, you are the decoy for the sentry fire.

As a long time Medic-favoring player, I find this guide to be pretty good. However, sadly, he doesn’t include how good the syringe gun really is. Also, teaching newbs how to aim properly with it is very important.

Hi all, thanks for all the feedback and i’m very happy that you enjoyed it. I will surely make more movies, when i can find the time. Moviemaking takes quite a long time, but it’s great fun!
@Junior
Thanks for your point of view.
Yes i couldn’t pack all info into the movie, but in the uncommented clips there are many hidden tips, if you look closely. But after all my movie is meant to be a big push in the right direction, and a collection of the no1 rules when you play medic. If you play medic for a long time you simply find your gameplaystyle.
I overworked my youtube profile and included all additional info, for instance the >best

its and okay tut, not how i play at all though, im always in the way of enemy fire, and generally go after anyone who shoots me in between healing team members.

too bad the uber switching is costly now since an update, and saving uber by switching weapons has been nerf’d as well.

Ya’ll just need to start reading more and you will read faster. I had no trouble with the text at all. Great vid. I play medic really well but I never seem to be able to get self defense kills when I need to.
