Saving Private Ryan, Team Fortress 2 Style

Spaded! from 3lazydogs has put together this vid splicing Saving Private Ryan footage with Team Fortress 2 sounds and music.

Much hilarity ensues, and the pyros rock (as always).
I think I like the Allied team better on this one.

Don’t get me wrong, this is well made, and I hate to be the wet blanket, but…

Part of the charm of TF2 is that it separates the realism of actual gun fights and just makes it a fictional environment to achieve goals. Nobody gets hurt.

I never really got games like Call of Duty etc. that put you in the place of Allied and even Axis soldiers. WWII was a horrible thing that happened because some people in real life were very disturbed thinkers. Putting something fun and fake over a dramatic recreation of something horrible and very real just doesn’t seem right to me…

That’s why they call it ‘dark’ humour.

You kids should be ashamed of yourselves laughing at such a tragic event in history.

My father didn’t kill all those Nazis at Normandy Beach on d-day so you could slack around your parents basement watching videos on the internet and mocking the great deeds of him and his fellow soldiers.

He was shot in the urethra while stabbing a Nazi with his battle spoon after using all his bullets to finish off Hitler (who was wearing a robo-battle suit). Show some respect.

Why do you guys have to take this so seriously. You sound like idiots. This was meant for fun. And it’s just a movie that’s been dubbed. Don’t take offense.

    Oh, and isn’t saying

the same type of thing? Joking about the same event.

This violent video from your computer game is exactly why I won’t let my children (aged 8,10 and 22) play computer games.

You people have made me fear for my life while I go about my holiday shopping this Christmas. You are turning your back on Jesus and training how to kill people in your hate filled murder simulator.

I will pray for you, but be on notice that I too keep a gun in my house, and I won’t hesitate to use it on you if you should threaten me or my family!

There is just so much wrong in this comment it’s hard to know where to start. I’ll do my best though.

First off, it’s a videogame. Videogames do not make people kill other people. Only someone with serious mental problems BEFOREHAND would consider acting out what they see in a game. And your 22 year old child, if they haven’t stood up to you on this point by now, you’re obviously not raising them right. Stop being a control freak and let your children live their own lives.

Second, it’s people who use the words “You are turning your back on Jesus” that make me fear for my life. There are no atheists in foxholes, you know why? Because they’re not the ones who start the wars! You’re perfectly entitled to worship whatever deity you like, long as you don’t denounce us for having a laugh at something that was put together from two pieces of popular entertainment, which was it’s original purpose I believe.

Third, you don’t need to pray for me, as I don’t really care. Pray for someone else of your faith, as they’re more likely to appreciate it. And by keeping a gun in your house you’ve just exposed your own stupidity. Take a look at the statistics regarding the amount of accidental gun deaths in the home, vs. the amount of public shootings. You should be surprised. I urge you to ditch the gun, before something incredibly bad happens, I’m absolutely serious.

    Have a happy Year’s End

I loved the subtle “fix” voice of the medipack as the guy restocked his ammo.

That had kind of a double fun layer and a single tragic one. This is still a movie (1), war was way uglier than this, a fictional movie where you hardly see any blood and dubbed with funny quotes is funny (2), war with guts flying and stuff that makes you go mad after your repressed memories come back is tragic.
