Maybe you should be complaining about spawn campers rather than snipers. The red hot spot appears to be in the area near the spawn point, not on the battlements.

Um... Actually the faster you move the slower time passes. So if its from the scouts perspective then the time played as displayed in the stats would be actually less time than has passed for the other classes.

To add to the above. Look at the OTHER battlement exit, which is another common sniper hang out... Why are there so few kills there then?

Hmm? Oh right, there's so few kills there because that death map is for all classes, not just snipers :P

Oh look... More misinterpretation!

The metal battlements exit is the most used exit on 2fort. Note that it's the closest exit to the spawn, the most direct route to the middle of the map, and one of the quickest ways into the enemy base (battlements, bridge, battlements).

Now lets look at what else we have going on. It's visible from almost every other point in the middle of the map. It's a sniper nest. Three classes can access it from the other team. It's a blind corner. Oh, and it's one of the most used entrances to the enemy base.

There's more than one reason as to why people die there. I still don't get why you have this campaign against snipers on 2fort... That death map only proves that 1. the snipers are doing their job, and 2. that people are stupid enough to run blindly off the battlements into enemy fire.

You also forget something: Tons of scouts, soldiers, and demoman die there from the sentry that is always outside of the damn spawn right there.

@Strandiam - I think its to do with the weird time dilation scouts experience from moving so fast. To us it appears that a short amount of time has elapsed, but to the scout running across the map feels like 2 hours (especially seeing as most players are twitchy 8 year olds). I guess the stats are recorded in the same frame of reference as the scout. *shrug*

Forgot to mention. Another reason why scout as most played doesn't make sense. Granary is the main scout heavy map and apparently Granary is the least played map with the fastest round times. /shrug

Some of these stats are really confusing and seem wrong to me. I agree that scout does not seem to be the most played class. Granary is the only map that I really see numerous scouts get played and many maps usually don't even have one per team.

And how does the syringe gun have a lower damage distance than the melee weapons? Maybe I am not understanding this category, but that has to be a mistake.

Also, how is sniper rifle so far down on the crit % list? Are that many people so bad that they can't headshot? The only reason I can imagine is if post game kills are counted where everything crits and people often use melee weapons for fun. But I can't imagine that would even be counted in these stats, and if they are they shouldnt account for THAT much.

I also would have guessed Dustbowl as most played map. There are so many 24/7 Dustbowl maps and I haven't noticed as much for the other maps.

@david & @nullc - Yeah, I know my interpretation of the stats is a bit naff, but I'm talking "scientific proof" as in the neo-con political sense of the term - i.e. twist it to make it mean whatever you want to suit your agenda. I'm biased and I'm ok with that.

@Kaas - I reckon its to do with the fact that most players manually choose their team when they join a game. If the teams are equal, there must be a slightly number percentage of players that choose the blue team. The blue team maybe has an extra player or two more often, and that is enough to win the map slightly more often.

Is anyone but me completely surprised at these stats? I mean, Scout most played class? I rarely even SEE them. And then the percentage of wins per team... wth! It makes sense for Dustbowl and Gravelpit to not get close to 50/50 (and hydro maybe, but Hydro is like 53/47 or something), but look at 'mirrored' maps, Well, for example... red wins Well only, like, 30% of the times or something, with blu winning 55% or so... does anyone have an explanation for this? I can't come up with anything but spawning blu when joining a match with teams with the same amount of players... but I doubt that's the case. Does red make people more aggressive or somthing?

As said earlier, it just means lots of people die there, wich could be any class jumping down OR snipers, killed by any class aiming there OR snipers. Don't get me wrong, I belive snipers are worthless too, but this proves nothing.

Coincidence I'd guess, or that I usually play on the other side. ¬_¬

Anyhoo that area will also include the hallway underneath which is of course a high density killing area.

I was going to go and defend the snipers but I changed my mind. I was going to say that the sniper deck was directly over the hallway coming from the sewer and the courtyard (it isn't).

Something odd I also noticed is why the respawn on the south-west side have more deaths than the respawn on the north-east side?

You realize that you're wrong when you say 'most of the deaths' occur on the sniper deck? That map shows the density of kills. There are indeed two high density spots on the map there, but they're small. As a percentage of the total kills on the map, I'm inclined to say that they account for considerably less than half. The real moral of the story is not to stand around on the sniper deck. That's all you can really draw from this.
